【摘要】:ThispartofISO4589specifiesmethodsfordeterminingtheminimumconcentrationofoxygen,inadmixturewithnitrogen,thatwillsupportcombustionofsmallverticaltestspecimensunderspecifiedtestconditions.Theresultsaredefinedasoxygenindexvalues.Methodsareprovidedfortestingmaterialsthatareself-supportingintheformofverticalbarsorsheetupto10,5mmthick.Thesemethodsaresuitableforsolid,laminatedorcellularmaterialscharacterizedbyanapparentdensitygreaterthan100kg/m.Themethodsmayalsobeapplicabletosomecellularmaterialshavinganapparentdensityoflessthan100kg/m.Amethodisprovidedfortestingflexiblesheetorfilmmaterialswhilesupportedvertically.Forcomparativepurposes,aprocedureisprovidedfordeterminingwhetherornottheoxygenindexofamaterialliesabovesomespecifiedminimumvalue.OxygenindexresultsobtainedusingthemethodsdescribedinthispartofISO4589canprovideasensitivemeasureoftheburningcharacteristicsofmaterialsundercertaincontrolledlaboratoryconditions,andhencemaybeusefulforqualitycontrolpurposes.Theresultsobtainedaredependentupontheshape,orientationandisolationofthetestspecimenandtheconditionsofignition.Forparticularmaterialsorapplications,itmaybenecessaryorappropriatetospecifydifferenttestconditions.Resultsobtainedfromtestspecimensofdifferingthicknessorbyusingdifferentignitionproceduresmaynotbecomparableandnocorrelationwithflammabilitybehaviourunderotherfireconditionsisimplied.ResultsobtainedinaccordancewiththispartofISO4589-2mustnotbeusedtodescribeorappraisethefirehazardpresentedbyaparticularmaterialorshapeunderactualfireconditions,unlessusedasoneelementofafireriskassessmentthattakesintoaccountallofthefactorspertinenttotheassessmentofthefirehazardofaparticularapplicationforthematerial.NOTE1Itmaynotbepossibletoapplythesemethodssatisfactorilytomaterialsthatexhibithighlevelsofshrinkagewhenheated,e.g.highlyorientedthinfilm.NOTE2Forassessingtheflamepropagationpropertiesofcellularmaterialsofdensity<100kg/m,attentionisdrawntothemethodofISO3582:1978,Cellularplasticandcellularrubbermaterials?Laboratoryassessmentofhorizontalburningcharacteristicsofsmallspecimenssubjectedtoasmallflame,fortestinghorizontalburningcharacteristics.
